Description: A curb ramp is a concrete ramp graded down from a raised sidewalk to the surface of an adjoining street. It is designed to allow pedestrians, especially disable people such as those in wheel chairs, to safely and easily cross streets. Curb ramp locations in the City of Rancho Cordova were digitized on an aerial photo base map after a brief field survey conducted in the fall of 2012. The goal of the field survey was to simply collect the location of existing ramps. These locations were digitized and only very basic attribute information (DWS) was input. Subsequently to this work, the data model was refined to collect information typically captured in the Curb Ramp Inspection Form when projects are being completed. New ramp installations collected using field forms as well as old project information (where information exists) was subsequently added to the database, but no comprehensive assessment of existing ramps has yet been attempted.
